  2018 SCQHA Queen

Allison Hinson, 21, is a senior at Wingate University where she is pursuing a degree in Human Services. Allison started taking riding lessons when she was 5 years old and her hobby just escalated from there. She began showing locally when she was 12 years old and then started competing on the AQHA level as an Youth.  Allison is currently competing in the Hunter Under Saddle, Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Equitation events with her Quarter Horse gelding, TheseIronsAreStrait aka Dillon.

Allison grew up in Monroe, North Carolina bordering the South Carolina state line. Her parents, Pamela & Lynn Hinson, have supported her dreams from the beginning helping her any way possible. Between her school work and queen activities, she also works for her family’s business as the Human Resource Manager in the Petroleum and Grading Industry. One of Allison’s favorite things to do in her free time is to volunteer at Horse N Around Therapeutic Riding Center, where she assists children with developmental and physical disabilities through equine related activities and therapies.  Her personal motto is “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” and she strives to exhibit this every minute of everyday.

Allison was also the 2017 SCQHA Queen. Last October she finished 9th place over-all in the Congress Queens Competition at the 2017 All American Quarter Horse Congress. She is driven to study even harder this year and to practice daily in order to be the best representation of the South Carolina Quarter Horse Association.
