Piper is currently (Jan, 2019) a senior at Hammond School in Columbia, SC. She has been riding since the age of 8 and has ridden as a Western rider in IEA since 6th grade as an individual and as part of a team, riding Horsemanship and Reining. In the 2017/2018 season, Piper crossed over to try Huntseat IEA also, riding Equitation on the Flat and Over Crossrails. She currently rides with Flamekissed Equestrian Team (Western), coached by Amanda Pope, and Creekside Equestrian Team (Huntseat), coached by Adrian Mack. 2018 was her first year riding consistently with AQHA / SCQHA. She enjoys Horsemanship, Reining, and Ranch Riding.
Piper is an active youth member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, where she volunteers for many leadership positions. She has been a high school leader/volunteer for middle school Wednesday night table groups, middle school Beach Blast, Vacation Bible School, a Christmas Party for Jesus, and sometimes helps with the AWANA program, which she completed herself through elementary, middle, and high school. She is a passionate Christian and loves her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The summer of 2018, Piper traveled to the Dominican Republic for her first mission trip and she loved it.
Piper is also an intern at Riverbanks Zoo through their ZooTeen program, where she has served the last three years. As a ZooTeen, she is part of the education program at the zoo, working with children, camps education carts, and animal ambassadors to introduce the public to God’s wonderful creatures.
She also works at Chick-fil-a, Ballentine, and has been there since the summer of 2016.
She is also a member of many organizations at Hammond School, such as the TedX committee, Public Policy and Social Change club, Prom Committee, National Honor Society, etc. She is also a Red Circle Ambassador and a Peer Mentor at Hammond. Piper is on the Distinguished list of scholars, and has been accepted with multiple scholarships at both of the only two colleges she applied to: Anderson University and St. Andrews University. While a difficult decision, Piper has decided to attend Anderson University where she currently plans to double major in Biology and Youth Ministry with minors in Chemistry and Computer Programming. She dreams one day to work in a large zoological facility, such as Australia Zoo (Home of the late Steve Irwin) or Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort, her favorite vacation location. She also hopes that God’s light will shine through her and she can help lead young people to the Lord.
